COMMON SKIN RELATED ISSUES BY WEARING FACE MASK

People have experienced skincare issues by wearing a face covering mask, including acne, rosacea or redness, contact dermatitis, or an itchy, red rash where the mask makes contact. Face masks create an occlusive, or closed up, environment that increases the amount of moisture next to your skin, the excess moisture can lead to breakouts and skin irritation on the nasal bridge, chin or cheeks.

USE COTTON FABRIC MASK TO AVOID ACNE

Wearing masks regularly can increase sweating, and with that comes the risk of your skin becoming more oily, which can clog pores and cause blemishes.

Cotton fabric mask on the other hand are more breathable and less likely to cause skin irritation. However, people with compromised immune systems should stick with surgical or other more medical grade masks where the level of protection may be higher.

TAKE CARE WHILE WASHING REUSABLE MASKS

Avoid using harsh fragrant detergent that may cause skin allergies. When cleaning a reusable mask, it is important to use hypoallergenic laundry detergent and to avoid fabric softeners and dryer sheets.

AVOID USING MAKEUP UNDERNEATH YOUR FACE MASK

Makeup is more likely to clog your pores and lead to breakouts. If makeup is necessary, use only products labeled “non-comedogenic” or “won’t clog pores.”

SKIN CARE ROUTINE TO PREVENT BREAKOUTS OR SKIN SENSITIVITY WHILE WEARING A MASK

Wash your face morning and night with a mild over-the-counter acne cleanser that contains salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide can help prevent breakouts.

You can use gentle Oats and green tea cleanser that can help remove built up or dirt along with providing anti-oxidant properties to skin.   

Use ultra-light hydrating Argan oil or Sunrise AM serum before wearing mask to avoid skin sensitivity or irritation. Application of hydrating serum will help skin stay moisture.

PAY ATTENTION ON YOUR ORAL HYGIENE

Many of the people over look on keeping good oral hygiene, dentists recommend sipping water throughout the day and rinsing the mouth after eating. It’s also beneficial to floss after eating and to keep the mask as clean as possible. Dentists also recommend sticking to a good daily oral hygiene regime, which includes twice-daily brushing and regular flossing and chewing sugar-free gum after eating. Taking short breaks from wearing a mask can help to prevent dry mouth and keep the mouth clean and fresh.
