7 Steps to Detox Skin

Your entire body is connected, and your lifestyle plays a big part on all. By cleansing your body of impurities, you set it up so that all of your organs are working in harmony with one another. Since your skin is your biggest organ, it benefits as well from releasing harmful substances from the body and replacing them with nutrients and minerals your body needs for clear, healthy-looking skin.

Here are a series of steps to make sure that you’ll be giving yourself the best skin condition.
STEP ONE – IDENTIFY THE SKIN TOXINS
Part of the detoxing process is limiting the number of toxins you’re taking in. Toxins come in many forms, and some are not as obvious as others. Things like cigarette, smoke and alcohol are pretty clear. You’re also taking in pesticides and herbicides from conventionally grown fruits and vegetables. There are antibiotics and growth hormones in conventionally raised livestock.

There are also dozens of heavy metals that are toxic to the body that can build up over time. If you’ve let these go unchecked for years they could be causing many of the problems that can appear on skin in form of acne, wrinkles and so on.

STEP TWO – BEGIN FROM WITHIN
– Drink plenty of pure water. Being in a dehydrated state can make you look dull and tried.
– Cleanse the liver. Eat foods that help the liver, and avoid drinking caffeine and alcohol.
– Eat organic fruits, vegetables, and meats to avoid toxic chemicals.
– Get a water filter for your shower to limit the amount of chlorine on your skin.

STEP THREE – USE ALL NATURAL TREATMENTS
Rather than using harsh, chemical-laden treatments, switch to organic and all-natural products to reduce their side affects. Nourish your skin with herbs and botanical skincare products. You’ll be doing yourself a favor by giving the body things it needs, rather than bombarding it with substances that were created in a laboratory.

STEP FOUR – USE A DETOXIFYING HEALING MASK

If you have severe acne, try using a detoxifying healing mask made with bentonite clay. This clay is known for its ability to draw out toxins from the skin. It is often used as part of a detox bath, but you can bring the same benefits to your face by using it as a mask. You can use this as a way to clear out your pores, since it will remove dirt as well as impurities. You can make it a part of your weekly maintenance.

STEP FIVE – OBSERVE YOUR RESULTS
During a detox it’s important not to jump to conclusions too quickly. When the body is purging toxins from its various systems, things might look worse before they look better. This is especially true if you’ve never detoxed your body before, and have been on the Standard Diet until now. Once you have established better habits and enough time has passed for results to show, take a look at what is working and what isn’t. Give at least 15 to 20 days for results to be seen.

STEP SIX – FILL ANY NUTRITIONAL GAPS
Check for nutritional deficiency and add multivitamins. It could be that you’re not getting enough of a specific vitamin or mineral from the foods you’re eating, and this is causing breakouts or skin dullness. It can be hard to eat the recommended 5 to 7 servings of fruits and vegetables each day, so supplementing with whole food vitamins and greens could be what you need. These are made from actual foods, and do not contain synthetic vitamins and minerals.

STEP SEVEN – GO THE DISTANCE
Moving the body creates the conditions for the body to breathe, stretch, circulate and sweat. It is a good idea to drink lots of water during a detox period, so the skin can sweat and the kidneys can effectively filter toxins. By increasing your water intake, as well as increasing your heart and breathing rate, your body can more effectively flush out unwanted toxins, fats and waste. It is recommend that you exercise for 45mins 5 days a week for your health, fitness and to attain beautiful skin.
